Muay Thai is a combat sport that originated in Thailand. It is sometimes called ‘The Art of 8 Limbs’ because it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes, thus using eight “points of contact”,’ (also known as ‘Stand Up’ in MMA circles). Thai is a very explosive and exciting martial art. Quite possibly the toughest martial arts class out there and you’re always guaranteed a beast of a session. There’s no kick quite like that of a Thai fighter for pure power. Hybrid Muay Thai students are a friendly and hardworking group. There are no egos among us and each class has supportive coaches & students on hand to help you.
We now have Two beginners classes a week. These classes focus on teaching the basic fundamentals of Muay Thai. This includes stance, footwork, basic punches, kicks, knees and elbows and the defences to these techniques.
So if you’re ready to make some real progress and get fit, this class if for you.

Here is a little bit of information on our head Muay Thai Coach the legend that is Dave Wilkins
As a youngster at school Dave trained in Boxing and Wing Chun. When he was in the Royal Marines he visited Thailand, this is where he first saw Muay Thai and knew this was the sport for him. When back in the UK he trained under Dave Fiddler and Shaun Tasker in Plymouth, and with Lumpini gym in London under Alan Keddle. Dave had his first Full Contact fight in 1993 which he won by 2nd round KO, he then went on to fight for both gyms and headed back to Thailand to learn more every chance he had.
He had fights across the UK which included winning the English Title belt at Light Heavyweight, Dave was then chosen to represent the Country fighting in big shows in places such as Thailand, Croatia and Japan. Dave has trained in various camps up and down Thailand and at one time was sponsored by Fairtex. His last fight was in 2005 and he then became a Coach for his club after passing the Instructors course. Qualified A Class Referee and Judge, qualified Corner man, Pad Man and First Aider, Dave promoted his first Muay Thai and Kickboxing show in 1999, for the next 10 years he held promotions in Plymouth and Cornwall, Amateur, Pro and International matches. He then set up his own club under the name of Wildkick . Along the way producing both male and female champions alongside junior title holders competing in the UK and on the continent.
