Review to UFC 175!
Review to UFC 175.
So this Saturday just gone we sat back to witness UFC 175. Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida vs Chris Weidman. For those of you have already seen the Hybrid post fight predictions u have probably realised things went a little different to as we had predicted.
There was no controversy with the main event when Chris Weidman was declared winner by unanimous decision after a strenuous 5 round battle. Seeing Weidman in this fight should have shut the doubters mind as to whether he is a true champion. Weidman was the better, stronger fighter, controlling the cage straight from the off standing out early on in the fight. Most of the fight continued with Weidman leading the pace, Machida circling waiting on the counter offensive. Machida made an effort for a big come back in the fourth round catching a big counter left, Weidman was in trouble, backing up and eating shots as he was legitimately damaged for the first time in UFC. Machida continue to be strong landing a good leg kick in the fifth but had left it too late in the fight and at the end of the full 5 rounds Weidman was award the win by unanimous decision. Machida fought a good battle and was the first to rock Weidman but was it was clear he lost perhaps finding his stride a little too late?
So who’s up next for Chris “All American” Weidman? Dana seems to have it set on Vitor Belfort but will he be able to take the top spot.
The co main event and title fight of UFC 175. Rousey vs Davis. Well what can we say about this fight? Is there much you can say about a fight that lasted 16 seconds? Ronda Rousey, former Olympian, and UFC women’s bantamweight champion, stepped into the Octagon to defend her title against Alexis Davis…. And she did just that in a dominating fashion. As soon as the pair came together Rousey managed to land a hard right hand, rocking Davis and opening her up for a perfect hip throw, Rousey took full advantage of this and after throwing Davis she rained down a total of just 9 punches clean to the face, knocking Davis out. What more can be said? The entire fight lasted 16 seconds.
Rousey didn’t walk away unscaved though, she needed 10 stitches to close a cyst that burst on her knuckle after drilling Davis face mercilessly.
So is there really anyone in the woman’s bantamweight division that can take Rousey off the top spot? Will we ever see the Cyborg vs Rousey Fight we’ve all been waiting to see?
What’s your opinion? Have your say?
